A major part of my experience at Heritage involved my participation in the HCA band. Starting in just fifth grade I developed the skill of music that grew over the span of 7 years. The band setting fluctuates from year to year, as you never know what instruments the incoming students will take up. However, the variety is what made band so exciting. In addition, we practiced not only concert pieces but had the thrill of playing for sporting events in the Pep band. I value the knowledge in music that I acquired, and the opportunity I had to play many fun pieces. Every year our teacher presented us with more difficult songs. It was fun to challenge ourselves and see first- hand, the improvement every student had made.
But what I enjoyed most, was the time and memories made with the other band students. In the midst of hard work and preparation for concerts, there was also some time for play. I will always remember the laughs and jokes of seventh period and how it was such a relaxing way to end the day. Not only did I get to play music and practice challenging and exciting songs, but I made many great friends along the way.
